New York basketball is not looking too good right about now, well unless you enjoy a one-sided train wreck coming unraveled at the worst possible time. Not even the second coming of Carmelo Anthony could save the Knicks from salvaging the game.
The Warriors made a mockery of Knicks in Carmelo Anthony's return from injury. Is Amare's absence that bad where this team forgot how to play Knicks basketball? Apparently so. Is Mike Woodson losing his edge with coaching his team to victory a few nights after pounding the Utah Jazz? We all know the Knicks need to stay ahead of the Pacers to retain the number #2 seed in the East.
The Warriors moved the ball well. Stephen Curry connected from downtown again (another Manhattan shooting fest), shooting 6 3-pointers to add to his previous 12 3-pointer outing in Manhattan. The vintage Madison Square Garden performance netted the smooth baller 54 points, where this time Curry (26 points) teamed up with David Lee (near triple double) to penetrate the Knick's sagging defense to get a big W.
The Warriors took advantage of my Kings to win by 2 points. Now, the Warriors are trying their best to keep the Los Angeles Lakers from overtaking them for the #6 seed in what would be a potential matchup versus a hot Los Angeles Clippers team. The Knicks felt the heat again a week after losing to the hot streaking Miami Heat in a big ABC Sunday game on March 3, 2013.
The West is shaping up with many interesting scenarios. Will we see a Los Angeles Clippers and a Los Angeles Lakers and or a Golden State Warriors first round Northern and Southern California battle? It is possible. Don't forget about Memphis and the Denver Nuggets claiming the number #3 seed.
The Knicks need to hide the film way up in the MSG attic, out of reach of any person willing to cover their stinker. Instead of keeping possession of the ball, the Knicks played like a team possessed by their past losing ways. We give the Knicks credit for resurrecting their franchise.
The Knicks earned our respect this year. All the Knicks must do is keep pace to avoid a season-ending meltdown that may push them into a less favorable seeding. As usual, the top 5 teams out West will win greater than 50 games, while the East are projected to push 3-4 teams above the 50 game mark.
The Heat streak is on the line in a matchup against the Atlanta Hawks on the road. Can Dwayne Wade and LeBron James deliver 19 wins in a row? The saga continues on Tuesday. Golden State Warriors lit up the Bay on Monday night, playing stellar ball against the second best Eastern Conference team.
